Nếu đã làm quen với các sản phẩm trước, bạn sẽ nhận ra cách chơi của TOA vẫn không có nhiều khác biệt so với game hành động nhập vai đang ăn khách hiện nay. Bạn sẽ tiếp xúc và nhận nhiệm vụ từ những nhân vật gặp gỡ trong suốt cuộc chơi. Song song với việc thực hiện quest, tiêu diệt quái vật sẽ giúp bạn khám phá những vùng đất mới và quan trọng là nhận được các điểm kinh nghiệm để thăng cấp. Bên cạnh các chỉ số cơ bản như Strength, Will, Agility... bạn có thể học thêm các kĩ năng đặc biệt để phát huy thế mạnh của từng nhân vật. Ví dụ nhân vật Mogrim có thể giam chân đối thủ bằng những nhát bổ mạnh mẽ trên không. Vũ khí Serin sử dụng lại mạnh lên bội phần nhờ khả năng “yểm” nhiều yếu tố khác vào chúng. Sau khi Diablo của hãng Blizzard trở thành tượng đài kinh điển của thể loại hành động nhập vai (hack n slash) và gặt hái được nhiều thành công đáng kể, thế giới game chứng kiến sự xuất hiện của nhiều tên tuổi mới cũng khai thác thế mạnh của dòng game trên. Trong số đó, có thể kể đến loạt Dungeon Siege của “ngài” Chris Taylor vốn được xem là hậu duệ sáng giá kể từ thời hậu Diablo. Mới đây, Throne of Agony, phiên bản dành cho PSP, của loạt game trên cũng vừa chính thức có mặt.

Để bắt đầu chuyến phiêu lưu trên vùng đất Aranna, người chơi phải lựa chọn một trong ba nhân vật chính. Họ bao gồm Mogrim chiến binh dũng mãnh với sức mạnh tiềm ẩn, Allister pháp sư đầy tài năng được đào tạo từ Tenth Legion danh giá và cuối cùng là nữ sát thủ mù Serin – người có khả năng sử dụng hai vũ khí cùng lúc.

Bạn không hề đơn độc trong quá trình thực hiện chuyến phiêu lưu của mình, vì được sự hộ tống nhiệt tình của những bạn đồng hành đắc lực như nữ pháp sư người elf Shaelyn, Lap Dragon, xạ thủ Hooded. Cũng tương tự như các nhân vật chính, họ có thể lên cấp và có khả năng học kĩ năng mới để hoàn thiện hơn. Chỉ khác một điểm: bạn phải bỏ tiền ra để giúp họ thực hiện chuyện này thông qua nhân vật Taclin. Điều đáng tiếc là bạn không thể trang bị giáp hoặc ra các mệnh lệnh đơn giản cho họ nên không thể tránh khỏi những tình huống “dở khóc dở cười” với AI của các nhân vật này. Như khi cần chi viện thì không thấy họ đâu, nhưng khi cần tháo chạy “cấp kì” thì họ lại trơ ra chống trả đối phương. Chính vì vậy, việc bắt cặp cùng bạn chơi khác để thưởng thức TOA sẽ nhiều thú vị hơn các đồng đội máy. Tuy nhiên, đây cũng là giải pháp tương đối nan giải bởi chế độ multiplayer của game không hỗ trợ chức năng trực tuyến quý giá.

Đặc chế lại từ bộ engine sử dụng cho Dungeon Siege 2 trên nền PC trước đây, nhưng đồ họa TOA vẫn tỏ ra đẹp mắt với nhiều hiệu ứng phép thuật rực rỡ. Âm thanh cũng sống động không kém khi khâu lồng tiếng được thực hiện khá chuẩn, cùng với phần nhạc nền đầy chất hào hùng vốn được trích từ phiên bản hai trước đây. Nhưng để trả giá cho những ưu điểm trên, TOA lại khiến người chơi phàn nàn khá nhiều về tốc độ load cảnh. Đó là còn chưa kể, game chỉ bố trí một camera duy nhất nên khi lọt vào bụi rậm, rừng cây, hay những nơi sắp xếp nhiều đồ vật, bạn sẽ khó lòng quan sát diễn biến trên màn hình.

Nếu cho qua những khiếm khuyết kể trên, Throne of Agony vẫn được xem là phiên bản thành công của Dungeon Siege khi thử nghiệm trên miền đất mới. Đây chắc chắn sẽ là chuyến phiêu lưu dài, hấp dẫn mà các fan khó lòng bỏ qua.

Final Fantasy 7 là game được kéo dài nhất trong lịch sử game Final Fantasy và cũng là game có nhiều bí mật nhất, khi cốt chuyện của nó sau 10 năm vẫn còn được tiếp diễn. Crisis Core còn có một hệ thống Mission gồm 350 nhiệm vụ nếu bạn không muốn gấp rút kết thúc game để xem hồi kết. Hệ thống Mission có thể nói chính là nơi bạn phải bỏ thời gian ra nhiều nhất để tìm kiếm các trang bị xịn nhất, các material và các Summon Beast (triệu hồi quái vật) ẩn.Đồ họa của Crisis Core có lẽ không thể chê vào đâu được cho một game trên máy cầm tay, có lẽ nó gần tương đương với game Final Fantasy X trên PS2 ngày nào.Âm nhạc được thực hiện bởi nhà soạn nhạc Takeharu Ishimoto, một trong những nhà soạn nhạc cho Vagrant Story và Final Fantasy X.

Cảm xúc thăng hoa
Phiêu lưu cùng Zack đến tận cuối trò chơi, bạn sẽ thấy tất cả những gì Zack mong muốn thật sự là được sống thật vui vẻ và hạnh phúc bên cạnh cô gái mà anh yêu thương. Khi mọi việc đã được giải quyết xong, Aerith đã gọi điện cho Zack và anh đã hứa sẽ trở về gặp nàng trong tâm trạng rất hân hoan và vui mừng. Nhưng ngay khoảng khắc cuối cùng, số phận đã không mỉm cười với Zack. Vì muốn cứu lấy mạng sống của Cloud, một chàng thanh niên trẻ tuổi cũng đầy nhiệt huyết và mơ ước hoài bão như mình mà Zack chấp nhận hy sinh bản thân để Cloud được sống. Có lẽ ngay cả bạn cũng phải xúc động khi tận mắt chứng kiến toàn bộ những hình ảnh rất đặc biệt cuối cùng của game, khi Zack từ từ gục dần trong trận đánh. Hình ảnh tâm trí Zack mờ nhạt dần hình bóng mọi người, chỉ duy nhất đọng lại trong tâm trí anh là khuôn mặt của Aerith. Tất cả điều đó được thể hiện bằng chính hệ thống DMW của trò chơi.

Tất cả những điều cuối cùng tôi muốn nói chính là Crisis Core đã mang những ký ức của Final Fantasy VII trở lại với người chơi. Trò chơi đã thành công về nhiều mặt cho một game trên hệ máy cầm tay PSP, tuy nó vẫn còn những khiếm khuyết nhỏ nhưng không đủ để bạn bận tâm vào mà quên đi cuộc phiêu lưu chính của mình. Bản thân Crisis Core mới chỉ ra phiên bản tiếng Nhật nhưng đã làm thôi thúc hàng triệu người chơi ở phương Tây phải đặt hàng mua về, mặc dù bản thân họ rất hiếm chơi game không phải ngôn ngữ tiếng Anh và điều này cũng đã gây bất ngờ lớn cả nhà sản xuất!
